Fall Back Tonight: Enjoy Your Extra Hour of Sleep

Good news, Cincinnati: you get an extra hour of sleep this weekend! Daylight saving time ends Sunday, November 1, 2026 at 2:00 a.m., when clocks fall back to 1:00 a.m.

⏰ Don't forget! Set your clocks back one hour before you go to bed Saturday night. Phones and computers update on their own, but the oven, microwave, car, and that wall clock in the hallway won't.

Enjoy the extra hour

Sleep in, linger over a cup of coffee, or take a slow walk while the leaves are still at their best. Whatever you do with it, that bonus hour only comes around once a year, so make it count.

A quick fall checklist for your home

Changing the clocks is a great reminder to knock out a few easy seasonal chores:

  • Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and swap in fresh batteries.
  • Change your furnace filter before heating season gets going.
  • Reset outdoor light timers so your porch and walkway light up when it gets dark earlier.
  • Clean out the gutters once most of the leaves have dropped.
  • Disconnect garden hoses and shut off outdoor spigots before the first hard freeze.
  • Check weatherstripping around doors and windows to keep the heat in and the bills down.

Thinking about a move?

Shorter days don't slow down the Greater Cincinnati market. Fall and winter buyers are often serious buyers, and there's usually less competition than in the spring. If you're selling, good lighting goes a long way once it gets dark early: turn on the porch lights and open the blinds for showings.

Curious what your home is worth, or want to see what's for sale near you? I'm always happy to help.
